Ali and Cameron's Wedding Interview

This week we are working on finishing up Ali and Cameron's wedding programs, menus and place cards. Since they were on my mind, I thought I would share their wedding interview with you. Here is what we did for their invitation:

Tell us a little bit about you and your fiancée...

Cameron and I met at a sorority/fraternity exchange our freshman year of college at the laceType w:st="on">UniversitylaceType> of laceName w:st="on">WashingtonlaceName>. Our high schools were rivals so we shared quite a few acquaintances, but never had actually met. He got my number, but I thought it was so that if we met up with people in our same group of friends that we all could hang out. He later called me to go out to dinner.

Where are you getting married?

We are getting married at the laceName w:st="on">SeattlelaceName> laceName w:st="on">JapaneselaceName> laceName w:st="on">BaptistlaceName> laceType w:st="on">ChurchlaceType> and our reception is at the Bellevue Club.

Tell us a little about the wedding...

For the wedding I am going for a vintage/contemporary feel. It sounds like it completely contradicts itself, but I love the look of the 1940’s with vintage roses and lace, but with a 21st century twist.

What are some of the elements that you are most excited about?

One of the things I am really excited for is the performance by Chopstix during my reception. Chopstix has a few locations in the Puget Sound and they are famous for their live dueling piano show. I am also excited to see what the bridesmaid dress ensemble looks like. We were able to find five different dress designs from Nordstrom, all made by the same designer with the same color and fabric. I am really interested to see what they end up looking like together.

What is one thing that you can’t live without for your wedding and/or wedding planning?

I honestly don’t think I could have lived without TheKnot.com. They are a fabulous website with tons of ideas for brides with any budget. They have a wedding checklist with suggested due dates; if I didn’t have this I would probably forget half of the stuff I am supposed to do.

What made you choose your invitation design?

My invitation design incorporated my wedding colors of charcoal gray and bluish-purple. We went a little darker on the font and ribbon for the invitations, but I really like the way that they’ve turned out. I also like the simplicity of the invitation and that the ribbon decoration also serves a purpose as it holds the ceremony directions and response card. I sent Ruth a clipart rose and some ideas of what I wanted the invitation to look like and she did a fabulous job recreating all of the elements that I wanted.

Are there other wedding vendors that you would recommend?

I would recommend VOWS wedding planning, Fena Flowers, and Cory Parris Photography, and of course Paper Fling!
